Can You Beat Applicant Tracking Software?

There are many Applicant Tracking Software (ATS) scanners online but do they really work?

Here is my take on ATS in general:

✅ Every company uses its own ATS and tailors it to its needs. It’s not just about scanning your resume for keywords. Remember that artificial intelligence is dveveloping rapidly and it certainly gets incorporated into software, including ATS. AI recruitment technology is here.

✅ Your resume needs to make sense and appeal to humans. Jam packing it with keywords in hopes to get selected isn’t the best strategy.

✅ Beating an algorithm of a particular ATS isn’t possible. Focusing on cleaning up and streamlining your resume while strategically inserting important keywords from a job opening is a better approach.

How many jobs have you applied to and never heard back from? My guess is many. While many job applications get rejected by ATS, there is hope!

Here are some of the areas you can focus on first:

✔️ Use action words that describe impact and also match some of keywords from a job opening.

✔️ Use simple formatting

✔️ Make sure grammar and spelling are correct,

And

✔️ Make sure your current or previously held job titles in part or complitely match the job opening’s title.

What are your thoughts on ATS? How often do you hear back after submitting your resume?
